A serving of these crispy oven baked French fries has only one third of the fat of your regular fries, without losing any of the crunch. Follow this simple method for preparing oven baked fries and enjoy a crispy batch of fries without any actual frying.
Scrub your potatoes and/or peel if desired. Cut them into ¼" thick fries.
Place the fries in a microwave-safe bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and microwave for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fries. Carefully remove the wrap and pat them dry with paper towels if needed.
Mix olive oil, cornstarch, sea salt and garlic powder in a medium-sized bowl.
Evenly coat the fries in the oil and cornstarch mixture.
Distribute the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake at 450ºF/220ºC for 15 minutes. Pull the sheet from the oven, gently move the fries around with a metal spatula, and bake for another 15 minutes. Serve straight away.
